Students across the county come together to learn about watershed hydrology, water chemistry, collect fish, collect aquatic bugs, and have a bunch of fun! We are looking for people to help with this program.

About the event
Kids in the Creek is an annual program that was started in 1997. The 8th grade students of Haywood County attend this program to explore their local water resources. The students learn about watershed hydrology, water chemistry, collect fish, collect aquatic bugs, and have a bunch of fun! We are looking for people to help with this program. Volunteers are welcome to assist all day or half a day. No experience necessary.
When: Sept. 11th – 13th (8:30 am – 2:30 pm). Rain or shine.
Where: Canton Recreation Park, (77 Penland St., Canton, NC 28716) last parking lot before the bridge by the baseball field.
What to bring: sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, camp chair, an old pair of lace up sneakers that can get wet, and a change of clothing in case you have too much fun. We also have volunteer positions that will keep you dry!
What we will provide: Lunch, snacks, waders, and fun.
